CompactHabit: 15 Years Building Concrete Three-Dimensional Modular Buildings

2 October, 2024

This year at CompactHabit, we are celebrating 15 years of innovation in modular construction. Since 2009, when we completed our first modular building, we have transformed the construction sector with our industrialized construction system, offering faster, safer, and more sustainable solutions.

Since then, we have built over 110.000 m² of space and 2.380 three-dimensional concrete modules in buildings across Catalonia, France, and Switzerland. Our modular system has allowed us to develop a wide range of projects: student residences, housing, schools, offices, hospitals, among others. The industrialized construction offers great advantages compared to traditional construction, such as shorter execution times, improved quality, and reduced waste.

It all began in 2007 when we presented our first prototype at the Construmat fair in Barcelona, where we won the award for technological innovation. This milestone marked the beginning of our journey to revolutionize the modular construction sector.

Among other iconic projects, the annex at Arnau de Vilanova Hospital in Lleida, which we built to respond to the COVID-19 health emergency in a record time of just over 4 months, stands out. Another highlight is the social housing building on Marroc Street in Barcelona, which, with its 9 floors, is the tallest modular building in Spain.

Today, after 15 years, we remain committed to innovation and efficiency in the construction sector. At CompactHabit, we continue to work to provide sustainable construction solutions that reduce delivery times by up to 70%, incorporating new materials such as wood into our future projects.
